BOR Passes New Student Health Insurance Proposal

Today, the Board of Regents approved a proposal that will eliminate the mandatory insurance plan currently offered at Connecticut State Universities. As a result of changes to state and federal health insurance plans, current enrollment has continued to drop while annual premiums continued to rise creating increased financial and administrative burden to students. Recent analysis by CSCU has determined that there is a significant number of students who qualify for free or subsidized coverage who aren’t currently accessing it.

“This will make a big difference to our neediest state university students by significantly reducing their non-tuition cost of attendance which all too often can impede their ability to pursue their studies,” said CSCU President Ojakian.
