Dr. Tanya Millner-Harlee Taking on Interim Leadership Role at Manchester Community College

President Mark Ojakian has selected Dr. Tanya Millner-Harlee,, Interim Dean of the Academic Affairs and Professor of English at Manchester Community College (MCC), to serve as the Interim Campus Chief Executive Officer effective June 15, 2018, with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Manchester Community College.

On July 1, 2018, President Gena Glickman will officially retire from MCC and be taking on the role of President at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Massachusetts. “I appreciate Dr. Millner-Harlee’s willingness to serve in this interim role at Manchester,” said President Ojakian.  “I am very confident she can help keep the institution on track as we work to get a permanent leader for the campus.”  

The CSCU President’s office will launch a search for the permanent Campus CEO in the fall with a proposed start of January 2019.  President Ojakian noted, “Manchester is in a strong position to be the first college to implement our proposed leadership structure.  I look forward to working with faculty, staff and students as well as members of the community, particularly the MCC Foundation, to identify the next leader of the college.” 

Dr. Millner-Harlee joined the Manchester staff in 2004 as a lecturer in developmental English rising through the rank of Associate Professor, and serving as the co-chair of the English Department, Interim Director of Business, Engineering and Technology Division and in 2017 took on the role of Interim Dean of Academic Affairs.  In these positions, she has been both a team member and leader offering her expertise and passion to the college’s faculty, staff and students.  Dr. Millner-Harlee in faculty and administration positions at a number of colleges and universities in Virginia including Capitol College, Strayer University, North Viriginia Community College, and Park University as well as Northeastern University in Boston and Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, MA.    

Dr. Millner-Harlee’s wide experience as both a faculty member and administrator will be invaluable as Manchester goes through this transition time.  Her knowledge of the college and its community, dedication to teaching and learning, and her commitment to excellence will be assets to both the campus and the system.
