Regents Release Presidential Search Position Profile
The Regents' Search Committee (RSC) released a presidential search position profile - a document which outlines the skills, experiences and other qualities sought in the successful candidate.
"The Presidency of the Board offers great opportunities to an individual who can bring excitement, commitment and leadership to an organization that promises to be a best-in-class system of public higher education in the country," the profile reads. Among other qualities, the next president will bring a deep knowledge of higher education management; will be a forward-thinking and imaginative strategic planner of the highest integrity; will have demonstrated collaborative skills and the ability to establish statewide partnerships; a passion for learning and academic research, career and technical education, workforce training and remedial support; and will develop the workforce and educated citizenry for the State of Connecticut.
"The next president of the Board of Regents for Higher Education is someone whom we expect to take a key role shaping the ConnSCU system into one of the leading organizations in the country," said Lewis J. Robinson, chairman of the Board of Regents and its search committee. "Importantly, this person will be a 'driver' not a 'facilitator' toward student success, and we expect this person to thrive in an environment in which smart choices, bold actions and intelligent change are valued."
In addition to the Regents’ Search Committee, a Systemwide Advisory Committee, including students, faculty, staff, union representatives, and representation from the business and industry community, has been formed to provide input and suggestions to the RSC regarding the selection of a new president. The profile — which will be condensed and advertised in national higher education publications to solicit interest from candidates across the country — will also be sent to trade organizations and private industry to attract a broad pool of talent from which the Regents will consider for the next president. Nominations and recommendations are currently being accepted through Feb. 15, 2013. It is anticipated that the Board of Regents will recommend a candidate to Governor Dannel P. Malloy during the month of April with the goal of that candidate starting at the Board of Regents on or about July 1, 2013.
